Sonny Colbrelli secured his overall win in the 2021 Benelux Tour after a strong second place in the final stage to Geraardsbergen. Colbrelli, the first Italian to win the event, hopes he can “continue this form until the world championships.”
Bahrain-Victorious lived up to its name in the 2021 Benelux Tour. Matej Mohoric won Sunday’s seventh and final stage, teammate Sonny Colbrelli was second and secured the overall win.
Sonny Colbrelli has taken charge of the Benelux Tour, rounding off an impressive Ardennes offensive after a 25km solo effort. Colbrelli also took over the leader’s jersey, going into Sunday’s final stage with a 51-second lead over Matej Mohoric.
Caleb Ewan has won the fifth stage of the 2021 Benelux Tour. The Australian won a bunch sprint in Bilzen after a tough stage, while Stefan Küng took over the leader’s jersey from Stefan Bissegger.
Tim Merlier has won the fourth stage of the 2021 Benelux Tour. The Alpecin-Fenix rider took down the bunch sprint in Ardooie to take his second stage win of the week. Stefan Bissegger retains the overall lead.
On Wednesday Luke Durbridge made a second breakaway attempt in this year’s Benelux Tour. The Australian had to settle for third in the sprint , but took over the lead in the Super 8 Checkpoint classification.
