On Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the 21st edition of the Renewi Tour will kick off in Diest. The Demer city will set the stage for the Grand Départ of the five-day UCI WorldTour race, with both the start and finish of the opening stage taking place in Diest. One day earlier, on Tuesday, August 18, the official team presentation will also be held in the city, giving fans the opportunity to experience the international peloton up close even before the first kilometres are raced.
As the only stage race in the Benelux at UCI WorldTour level, the Renewi Tour traditionally welcomes all top teams in professional cycling. In 2026, the race once again promises a strong field of riders and top-level competition, with the full stage schedule to be announced at a later stage. What is already confirmed is that the opening stage will take place entirely in and around Diest, as both start and finish host.
The collaboration between Diest and the organisation also has a long-term dimension: the city will host a stage finish of the Renewi Tour again in 2028 and 2030. Alderman of Sports Jeroen Overmeer underlines the importance of this partnership: “With the Renewi Tour, we are once again bringing top-level cycling to Diest. We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Golazo for multiple editions and look forward to offering residents, local businesses and visitors a fantastic sporting event.”
Christophe Impens of organiser Golazo also expresses his enthusiasm: “Diest is an ideal location for the Grand Départ of the Renewi Tour 2026. Thanks to the team presentation and the opening stage, fans will have several opportunities to see the peloton up close. Moreover, the city and its surroundings provide the perfect setting for an exciting and attractive stage.”
Five days of top-level cycling
The Renewi Tour 2026 will take place from August 19 to August 23 and will cross several regions in Flanders. As tradition dictates, the course will offer a varied programme, with opportunities for both fast sprinters and classic-style riders. The race is broadcast live every year on channels such as VRT, RTBF and Eurosport, and is renowned for its strong international field and its focus on sustainability and recycling.
More details about the course and stages will be announced soon.
